Boat Judging Criteria
All boats on display on land and in the water are eligible for judging. Any owner with a boat not in a display and nor on a Festival mooring who wishes to have their boat judged is eligible but must register with the Festival committee. All boats to be judged must complete a judging form in advance of the Festival.
Tentative judging categories for the 2007 Festival are 'Best in':
- Classic Sail - traditional sailboat of classic design
- Bristol Sail - best kept and maintained sailboat
- Classic Power Boat - traditional power boat of classic design
- Bristol Power - best maintained power boat
- Work Boat - boat designed and built for commercial operations
- Runabout - small, powered boat
- Pulling Boat - open boat, propelled by oars
In addition, awards will be made for:
- Most Innovative
- Oldest
- Furthest Travelled
- Honourable Mention
- Best of Festival
- And of course one boat will sail away with People's Choice
The judges will visit the registered boats at their moorings on Friday morning,
with a second tour Friday afternoon for those boats that arrive late. Boats
ashore will be visited at the judges' convenience on Friday and/or Saturday.
Winners will receive a plaque and a Wooden Boat Festival pennant at the Awards
Ceremony on Saturday, and are encouraged to display their plaques and pennants
at this and future Festivals.
