Oxen Boat Launch
In the heyday of wooden boats, a launching was a major event and an excuse for festivities. Follow along with the procession as two huge (but very friendly) oxen, dressed in their finest, haul a traditional dory boat through town. Led by their owner, the oxen move the sled and boat right down to the Festival Wharf.
Once on site, the crew will rig block & tackle to capitalize on the strength of the oxen to pull the boat right out into the bay - a boat launch as it used to be done
This is a fun event for all ages and quite something to see.
